Overview
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to shift materials safely using manual handling methods.
It includes assessing the risks associated with relocating the load, planning the relocation process and carrying out the relocation in accordance with the plan. Work must be carried out in compliance with the relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations concerning the manual handling and movement of loads.
Work is performed under some supervision generally within a team environment.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Course Requirements
Pre-requisites:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to speak, understand and write in basic English
- Must have or obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
What to bring:
- 100 points of Identification – Originals, not copies.
- Enclosed footwear.
- Safety Gloves
- A hat, water bottle and sunscreen.
- Hi-vis shirts are recommended but not mandatory – we have hi-vis vests you can use on site.

Course Outline
Each course is structured to deliver essential skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience, including:
- Module 1: Assess risks associated with relocating load
- Module 2: Plan load relocation
- Module 3: Relocate load
What You’ll Achieve
Upon completing this course, you will:
- You will receive a TLID0020 – Shift materials safely using manual handling methods once you have been deemed competent, issued by Halo Nation Training (RTO No. 32485).
